Who Am I?

My name is Alex Keefover and I am an instructional designer. I received my Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science from Fairmont State University in 2017. While earning this degree, I took some classes online. I thought about how cool it would be to design and/or teach online courses. So, I went back to school and earned my Master of Education degree in Digital Media, New Literacies & Learning. While earning this degree, I focused on studying the best ways to create and teach online courses and trainings for K-12 schools, colleges, businesses, and non-profits. I currently work for a portal where nontraditional college students can take online courses for credits towards their degree. I help build the courses, with administrative duties, and make the courses accessible.

The Difference Matters

As I said, I have studied the various situations where eLearning can be implemented. Businesses and non-profits tend to need to train employees and volunteers on how to complete different tasks while schools and colleges tend to need to impart knowledge onto students. There are also cases where the opposite is true. I understand this. I have studied different instructional design methods and models for these different situations so I will be able to create custom solutions to fit your needs.

The Knowledge and The Tools

There are so many different tools out there to create and deliver eLearning content. It can get very confusing knowing which is the best for your needs. I have used many of these different pieces of technology so I can help you pick out and use the best tools to suit your learning needs. Some of the learning management systems I have experience in are Blackboard Learn, Moodle, and Articulate Online. For that really unique spin, a content authoring tool is necessary. I have experience in using these to create learning modules which include Articulate Storyline, Articulate Studio, SoftChalk Create, and Camtasia for instructional videos.
