Action Research on Implementing Online Quizzes As Formative Assessments Presentation

Thumbnail of presentationProject Completed May 2018

To finish my graduate degree I had to complete action research while doing a practicum mentoring an educator on how to integrate technology into their teaching. I decided to work with the mathematics education professor at Fairmont State University on this. In our first meeting, it became apparent that what was giving her the most trouble were the online quizzes she inherited from the previous instructor that were supposed to give students practice on the axioms of the real numbers. So, this was what I focused on.

This was my first time working with students. I learned so much from having to balance student feedback and content needs to make sure students were not suffering but also getting the content they needed. I also learned that it is important to revise the design of content even in the middle of it being taught if there is something that is not effective. Being flexible like this is not something I was particularly good at when I first started but I have grown to appreciate the value of this in instructional design. I enjoyed this so much, I have decided to make formative assessments a focus of mine while working in this field.
