The design of this course is very similar to the design of the Abnormal Psychology module I have included in this portfolio. However, I included it anyways because I did more work on this class than I did for Abnormal Psychology. The design of this class needed updated just like Abnormal Psychology so I reached out to our subject-matter expert in this field, Dr. Frank Lee, and asked for his thoughts.

Dr. Lee let me know that he had taught the class years ago and did not want to use any of the previous materials in the new design, thus turning this from a redesign to a new design. So, my first step was to figure out new course objectives for the course with the SME. After this, I built an entirely new theme for the course while awaiting module objectives to be sent from the instructor. Then, I evaluated multiple textbooks based on the module objectives with our target audience in mind. I sent the good ones I found to Dr. Lee for him to evaluate. We decided on a text then he sent my supplementary content, rubrics, and assessments he would like to use. I reviewed and tweaked these items for accessibility and clarity. I then built the lessons using SoftChalk Create and the course in Blackboard. During this, I came up with interactive self-assessments for each module.

One of the modules can be accessed by clicking the image above. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project because I have not had a lot of experience in this field before. Learning new things is one of my favorite parts of this job!
